Frequently asked questions
-
Where can I buy a KGD winch?
You buy KGD winches exclusively through authorised specialist dealers — no direct sales. Dealers are in Austria, Germany, Italy, France and the Czech Republic. Find your nearest dealer via the dealer search on our website.
—
-
How do I get a price / a price list?
We send price lists on request — because every machine is configured individually. Blade width, rope type and accessories affect the final price. Send us briefly what you’re looking for — you get a concrete quote, not a non-binding PDF.
-
How long is the warranty on a KGD winch?
KGD grants a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty on all its own components — from the date of purchase. Material and workmanship defects are covered; wear parts and damage from improper use are excluded. Separate from this is the lifetime spare-parts availability: it applies regardless of the warranty period and ensures that spare parts remain permanently available even for older machines.

-
How long can I get spare parts for my KGD winch?
Lifetime spare-parts availability — even for machines built as far back as 1974. The oldest KGD winch we still supply today is an SW 0 from 1974 — brake bands available, no problem. No other forestry winch manufacturer offers that: with a capital investment that runs for 20–30 years, what counts is whether you can still get parts in 15 years. All drawings since 1972 are archived.

-
Are KGD winches manufactured in Austria or Slovenia?
Developed and finished in Vorchdorf, Upper Austria — not in Slovenia. Design, prototyping and final assembly take place 100 % in our Vorchdorf plant. Individual bought-in parts come from mixed origins — which is why we say “developed and finished in Austria”.

How heavy may the winch be for my compact tractor?
Rule of thumb: the winch’s own weight should not exceed 20–25 % of the tractor weight, so the front axle doesn’t lift. The KGD 35 M weighs from 239 kg. Exact figures are in the data sheet or on request.
