Built for forestry work

Free spool

Pull the rope off by hand — without resistance. Both hands stay free while setting up the line, and the rope follows automatically during skidding.

Compact design

60 kg empty, 500 × 250 mm footprint, 950–1,370 mm height. Fits onto the main winch without making it bulky.

Removable rope drum

Remove drum + rope guide without tools. The line can stay up top while the tractor drives the timber away.

Remove the drum without tools

If the tractor has to leave briefly: remove drum + rope guide, the line stays up top.

Versatile — even on your existing remote system.
Tech & integration

Versatile — even on your existing remote system.

With a rope speed of 2–5.5 m/s and a maximum operating pressure of 175 bar, the winch is versatile and easy to integrate into existing winch remote systems.

  • A well-executed solution is Königswieser’s in-house hydraulic auxiliary winch, which makes it easy to bring the heavy 11 mm rope into the stand, especially on slopes.

Frequently asked questions about the auxiliary winch

  • What do I need an auxiliary winch for?

The auxiliary winch HW1 takes over pulling the heavy wire rope uphill — you no longer carry it back to the next skidding spot yourself. A 12–14 mm wire rope over 80 m weighs around 60 kg. The HW1 pulls the rope up hydraulically, you attach it, the main winch pulls the log. The HW1 can also be dismantled without tools — if you only work with the main winch, you simply take the drum off.

  • What hydraulics do I need on the tractor for the HW1?

The HW1 needs a single-acting control valve with return. A double-acting control valve is not suitable: with repeated pressure surges the check valve can leak — this leads to hydraulic damage on the winch. If your tractor only has double-acting connections, we clarify the adapter need in the consultation.

  • Does the HW1 fit my KGD main winch?

Full coupling (SBS synchronisation with the main winch) is only available on electro-hydraulic KGD winches — the HW1 is then system-integrated and operable by remote. M winches (mechanical) have no remote control — retrofitting is a workshop-by-case exception.

  • Can I also use the HW1 for other implements on the tractor?

Yes — the HW1 is universally usable. Besides the forestry winch, it can also be used for crane trailers, timber-blade variants, rear racks or log splitters. The tool-free dismantling makes switching between applications quick.
