Remote-control retrofit for winches
Retrofit remote control onto an existing KGD winch — Terra FA5 or Holzleitner. Fits practically any SA and Q winch.
You stand 40 m away — no longer at the lever.
Terra FA5 or Holzleitner?
Both are proven. The difference is in the detail.
Terra FA5
Compact handheld transmitter, rugged receiver box, proven in tens of thousands of jobs. Available as an accessory — fits SA and Q winches.
Holzleitner
Larger range of controls, more buttons — for pros who also want to control rope unwinding and the brake by remote.
Which system fits?
Send us your winch’s serial number — we’ll tell you whether Terra FA5 or Holzleitner fits better and what the system actually costs. One e-mail, one clear answer.
Compatibility — which winch can be converted?
| Series | Remote control retrofittable? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| SA — rope unwinding (from 2004) | ✓ yes, plug-and-play | ~99 % of SA machines are sold with remote control |
| Q — cross-drum winch (from 2022) | ✓ yes, plug-and-play | Remote control incl. SBS brake control |
| Mechanical (M) | ✗ no | The M series has no electro-hydraulic control — remote control technically not possible |
Frequently asked questions about the remote-control retrofit
-
Can remote control be retrofitted to my existing KGD winch?
Yes — all EH, SA and Q winches from model year 2004 are prepared plug-and-play for remote control. Send the system by post, plug it in, done. No conversion, no mechanic on site needed. The M series (mechanical) cannot be retrofitted — it has no hydraulic block.
-
Which remote systems are compatible?
KGD recommends Terra FA5 Profi and Holzleitner Basic — both are tested, plug-and-play and proven on our machines. Other remote systems should always be checked with us first before you buy.
