What does retrofit mean?

You stand 40 m away — no longer at the lever.

A remote control is not a luxury but safety. When pulling logs, the operator belongs at a safe distance — not at the winch’s mechanical lever. We retrofit existing SA and Q winches to remote control — from model year 2004 with a few steps, plug-and-play, shipped by post. Mechanical winches (M series) CANNOT be converted to remote control — they have no electro-hydraulic actuation, that is technically impossible.

Frequently asked questions about the remote-control retrofit

  • Can remote control be retrofitted to my existing KGD winch?

    Yes — all EH, SA and Q winches from model year 2004 are prepared plug-and-play for remote control. Send the system by post, plug it in, done. No conversion, no mechanic on site needed. The M series (mechanical) cannot be retrofitted — it has no hydraulic block.

  • Which remote systems are compatible?

    KGD recommends Terra FA5 Profi and Holzleitner Basic — both are tested, plug-and-play and proven on our machines. Other remote systems should always be checked with us first before you buy.
