Questions about the Mechanical winch type

What is a mechanical winch / chain winch?
The mechanical winch, also called chain-wheel winch, is driven by the PTO, without its own hydraulics. It is lighter, cheaper and almost maintenance-free. Sensible for tractors without a hydraulic system or for infrequent use.

What is the difference between mechanical and electro-hydraulic?
Mechanical: directly from the PTO, no hydraulics needed. Electro-hydraulic: own pump + hydraulic valves, enables remote, rope unwinding and SBS. If you want comfort and one-man work, choose electro-hydraulic. If you want simple and cheap, choose mechanical.

Can the M series be retrofitted with remote control?
No. The M series has no hydraulic system. but remote needs a pump and hydraulic valves. Anyone who wants remote control needs an SA or Q winch.

Do I need hydraulics on the compact tractor for a winch?
With the mechanical type: no, the winch runs entirely off the PTO. With the electro-hydraulic type: also no, the winch brings its own hydraulics. You only need power (12 V) and the PTO.

How long is the warranty on a KGD winch?
3-year manufacturer’s warranty on everything we make in Vorchdorf. Carried out directly by the Königswieser workshop, without a middleman.

How long can I get spare parts?
For life. The oldest machine we still supply is the SW 0 from 1974. No other manufacturer in the 30-km cluster does that.
